The Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship develops experienced healthcare support staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care across a wide range of healthcare settings.
Senior Healthcare Support Workers play a vital role in supporting patients, families and multidisciplinary teams. They work alongside registered professionals to promote health and wellbeing, monitor patients, undertake clinical tasks, support recovery and contribute to safe, effective and compassionate care.
This apprenticeship enables learners to build the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to progress their careers whilst making a positive difference to patient outcomes every day.

Supporting women, babies and families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, including infant feeding, safeguarding and newborn care.
Supporting safe patient care within perioperative environments through infection prevention, patient preparation, equipment management and theatre support activities.
Supporting patients throughout diagnostic imaging procedures while contributing to safety, patient care and service quality.
Working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians and other allied health professionals to support rehabilitation and independence.
Supporting individuals with activities of daily living, discharge planning, specimen collection, wound care and end-of-life care.
Supporting individuals experiencing mental ill-health through recovery-focused practice, therapeutic communication, risk management and person-centred care.
Supporting children, young people and families across a range of healthcare settings.
Off-the-Job Learning
Apprentices complete a minimum of 487 hours of Off-the-Job Learning throughout the programme. This learning takes place during paid working hours and is directly linked to the development of apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviours.
