This qualification gives candidates the opportunity to build both their managerial and care skills. It enhances advanced practice within health and social care settings and fulfills the regulatory requirement for managers of adult residential and domiciliary services. Who is the qualification for? This qualification is for those already working in health and social care. You might be an assistant or deputy manager, or a manager who has not yet achieved a recognised vocational qualification at this level. The qualification is relevant to job roles such as:
Adults’ Residential Manager - Management of day to day provision in a residential service as an assistant manager, deputy, unit or service manager.
Adults’ (non-residential) Manager - Management of day to day provision in a service that is not residential. (E.g. Domiciliary Care, Day Service) This could be as assistant manager, deputy, unit or service manager.
Adults' Advanced Practitioner - Roles within adult social care services that need a high level of knowledge of care provision activities or a specific specialism. Not involved in direct management of staff but has some responsibility for assessment of individuals’ needs of and ensures positive outcomes
The programme is predominantly work-based, with additional knowledge sessions, including regular reviews containing activity planning and target setting by a visiting assessor.
In order to achieve, you must demonstrate that you meet the relevant stated outcomes and demonstrate the required knowledge and understanding. This will be achieved through a balance of observations carried out by the assessor and the production of a workplace portfolio of evidence.
Number of credits that must be achieved: 90
Number of mandatory credits that must be achieved: 30
Number of credits that must be achieved from a your chosen pathway: 60
NB. The minimum of 90 credits must include the below listed unit.
Unit 70, Understand Professional Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People’s Settings
You could progress to Level 7 Management or Higher Education programmes within their specialist area.
