To work in care is to make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. As an adult care worker, you will need to provide high quality compassionate care and support. Adult care workers are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible. You may be working in a care home, a hospital, out in the community or visiting people at home.
This apprenticeship provides an ideal entry into the occupation and supports progression within the sector.
This apprenticeship usually takes 12 months to complete during which you will participate in training, development and on-going review activities. These typically include: • Induction which is specific to your workplace and at a minimum meets the 15 standards required by the Care Quality Commission [as set out in the Care Certificate] • Study days and training courses • Mentoring/buddy support • Completion of workbooks or a portfolio through which you will gather evidence of your progress • Structured one to one reviews of your progress with your employer and/or Dynamic Training. The Diploma in Health and Social Care level 2 (England) is completed with the support of a Dynamic Training and your employer who trains you.

Your employer will make the decision as to when you are ready to undertake the end point assessment. In order to be put forward for end point assessment, you will need to have achieved the key requirements of your apprenticeship.
The End point assessment is undertaken by an independent assessment organisation chosen by your employer and comprises of a situational judgement test and a professional discussion. In order to complete and achieve your apprenticeship, you will need to pass both components.
